Following his rookie season in the league, LaMelo Ball already has a signature sneaker in the works. Puma teased the shoe and partnership with a short video highlighting the Hornets point guard.

He signed with Puma before the 2020 draft all the way back in November 2020. This surprised many as he opted out of his father Lavar Balls’ “Big Baller Brand.” The Puma deal also shocked some as Ball often represented BBB in the past. Until now, Ball didn’t have a signature Puma sneaker. He only debuted the “Lamelo Ball Collection” of clothing for the brand.

Throughout the past season, Ball wore various Puma basketball sneakers. Most notably, the Puma ‘Court Riders’ that he often featured in. However, he never had his own official sneaker model with the company. After winning the 2021 Rookie of the Year despite missing a large chunk of the season due to injury, Puma looks to capitalize on his success.

Known for his humorous personality off the court, Ball could prove to be a perfect brand ambassador for Puma. Paired with his excellent play on the court, Puma landed perhaps their next big superstar. In addition, he isn’t new to having his own signature sneakers.

Lavar and BBB released the ‘Melo Ball 1’ as his first signature sneaker in high school. Unfortunately for the company, the shoes never took off in part due to LaMelo being just 16 and the ridiculous $395 price tag on the shoes.

In his short time with Puma, Ball already coined the phrase “Not from Here” as a tagline behind his brand at Puma. He went on to explain the tagline.

The phrase Not From Here means kind of like youre an alien. Youre not from here, youre something nobodys ever seen before. Youre one of one. Something like that. Its real different.

The new releases named “MB1’s” Ball’s ‘Not from Here’ tagline may indicate a potential theme to the shoes.
