The NBA world has been waiting for this domino to fall, and all signs point to the inevitable happening.
According to John Gamabadoro of Arizona Sports 98.7 FM, a Damian Lillard trade is finally going down very soon, perhaps in the next 24 hours. Surprisingly, the deal involves the Phoenix Suns, a team that didn’t appear to be on the radar the past few weeks.
So, why are the Suns suddenly in the picture? As Gambadoro explains further, Phoenix could be looking at a possible Deandre Ayton-Jusuf Nurkic swap, a circumstance that Portland didn’t dangle until recently.
“The Suns all summer have not been willing to trade Deandre Ayton this summer because they think he fits very well… Part of that is, of course, that there were no good offers. They were not gonna sell Ayton for 50 cents on the dollar.
If Damian Lillard does get traded, which I’m expecting to happen, it will be very interesting to see if Nurkic is on the table. I would be surprised if the Suns don’t look at that.”Gambo on an Ayton-Nurkic swap as part of the Damiam Lillard trade
At this point, no one has leaked any details of the “imminent” trade. However, reports have long indicated that Lillard’s trade to the Miami Heat includes Tyler Herro. With the rumors of a Dame deal circulating, Herro posted something on Instagram, “Ain’t no friends in this business.”
A while back, reports indicated that the Charlotte Hornets were considering a trade involving Herro. The details get murkier by the minute, but Gambadoro has a solid reputation among the NBA circle as someone with reliable intel. The Toronto Raptors were also mentioned as potential trade partners days ago, but at this point, no one’s sure.
Everybody is waiting for that Damian Lillard trade to go down. However, the most exciting part about this saga is knowing who and how many players are changing addresses this summer.
