Steve Kerr recently interviewed with NBC Bay Area’s Raj Mathai. Kerr talked about getting to coach Kevin Durant again and the brilliance of his former player.
“He’s just showed he’s the most talented basketball player on earth, if not of all time. Honestly, he’s just so gifted. I loved coaching him, and I’m looking forward to doing so again.”

Steve said he was looking forward to working with Gregg Popovich, who he is good friends with. Of course, the Olympics are a huge deal for anybody, and Kerr is looking forward to the opportunity.
He also gets the chance to coach current player Draymond Green and his former player Durant. The Golden State Warriors went to 3 straight finals with Durant, winning two of them. So calling Kevin Durant the most gifted player currently doesn’t seem too controversial. But when talking about all-time, things get interesting.
Kerr was asked whether he thinks that Durant is more gifted than Michael Jordan. Considering he was teammates with Jordan, he is someone who has a good perspective on the question.
“I think he’s more gifted, I really do, That’s saying something, but Kevin is a different … entirely different breed. He’s 6-11 with guard skills, unlimited 3-point range, passing, shot-blocking — his shot-blocking at the rim, it’s just stunning. Watching him this year was really, really gratifying to see.”

Kerr also said he believes that Draymond Green is the best defensive center in the league during the interview. This of course comes after Rudy Gobert won the Defensive Player of the Year award this year.
Kerr was also asked about how long he sees himself coaching in the future. As of now, he sounds nowhere near retirement. He talked about how much he loves coaching and how he enjoys every day coming in and working with the Warriors organization. Kerr is now the third longest-tenured coach in the league, with the recent coaching changes around the league.
