Dejounte Murray’s time with the Atlanta Hawks may very well be coming to an end. Trade rumors have surrounded Murray in a big way over the last few weeks. However, it seems as though trade talks have come to a bit of a halt at the moment.

That was until it was reported that the Milwaukee Bucks had expressed interest in acquiring the 27-year-old guard. Bleacher Report’s Chris Haynes broke the news today.

“Milwaukee Bucks are among multiple teams who are registering interest in trading for Atlanta Hawks star Dejounte Murray.”

The knee-jerk reaction here is that the move doesn’t quite make much sense. The biggest problem with the Bucks at the moment is their shaky defense. While Murray is far from a liability on that front, a trade for him doesn’t work toward solving that problem.

With Pascal Siakam traded, Murray is likely the best player available on the trade block. While contenders will be looking to make moves, a trade to Milwaukee would be quite surprising. Although the Hawks should keep any ideas regarding trades open, the Bucks don’t have the most assets to give.

Murray is currently averaging 21.0 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 4.8 assists per game this season. While Trae Young and him have both been solid, the team just hasn’t had the success that many people had anticipated.

The NBA trade deadline falls on February 8th of this year. With the deadline just a few weeks away, more and more rumors like this will continue to circulate. While the Bucks may not be a likely suitor, it does seem increasingly more likely that Murray will be playing somewhere other than Atlanta to finish out this season.
