Tyronn Lue has agreed to a 5-year deal to become the next head coach of the Los Angeles Clippers, per ESPNs Adrian Wojnarowski.

Lue, who spent this past season as an assistant for the Clippers, will replace longtime coach Doc Rivers. Rivers recently stepped down after LAs playoff loss to the Nuggets.

Lues best known for coaching the Cleveland Cavaliers to their first NBA title in 2016. He also took the Cavs to two more championship appearances in 2017 and 2018.

Despite coming off a disappointing 2019-20 campaign that resulted in a second-round exit for the Clippers, Lue inherits one of the most talented rosters in the league. Kawhi Leonard and Paul George are multi-time all-stars surrounded by several vital assets and role players.

It was issues with chemistry, not talent, that ultimately led to the Clippers premature playoff exit. That puts even more of a responsibility on Lues coaching for the upcoming NBA season. Hell have the pieces in Los Angeles; its only a matter of what he can do with them.
