Russell Westbrook passed Oscar Robertson to become the triple-double all-time leader. He broke the record after a devastating one-point loss to the Atlanta Hawks. Westbrook had 28 points, 13 rebounds, and 21 assists in the loss.

Oscar Robertson held the record for 47 years before tonight’s game. Westbrook made history and passed the deemed impossible record to become the triple-double all-time leader.

“I take a lot of pride in doing everything I can to impact winning. To be in a conversation with Oscar, I just want to thank him because he set the stage. The things he was able to do back in the day has allowed me to do the things that I do today. So Im appreciative of that, and Im appreciative of his support as well.

Russell Westbrook has been fantastic for the Wizards this season, despite his criticism earlier in the year. Moreover, many analysts questioned the trade for the Wizards and stated that Westbrook would never be his old self again. However, the Wizard’s guard has the most triple-doubles this season at 36 is carrying his team into the play-in tournament, along with the help of Bradley Beal.

Bradley Beal loves to play with Westbrook as he alleviates pressure off of him to perform every night. The duo is underrated as they look to catch teams off guard in the play-in tournament and the playoffs.

Last season, Beal was alone in Washington, and the team missed the playoffs with a 25-47 record. However, this year, the team performs much better as they hold a 32-37 record and contention for the play-in tournament.

Furthermore, Westbrook is averaging a triple-double a game with 22.0 points, 11.5 assists, and 11.6 rebounds per game. Additionally, the point guard has career averages in terms of his rebounds and assists per game as he is pushing to play in the play-in tournament.
