After suffering a horrible injury last year, Gerald McCoy is finally back. The 4-time All-Pro defensive tackle is now with the Las Vegas Raiders after the Cowboys released him last season due to his injury.

For a time, it looked like the injury ended his career; however, he penned a long letter addressed to Raiders fans to mark his comeback this season.

Within the letter, he cited his kids as a big part in aiding his comeback. He reflected on the lows of an NFL career and expressed his excitement for the 2021-22 season.

"To tell you the truth, I'm at the facility right now while I'm writing this. I'm standing on the indoor field. I'm looking around the grass, and I'm just…... in my element. And I'm not in here as a visitor. I'm not in here because I know people. I'm actually on the team. That's a dream come true to me. Now I'm just ready to see what this group does. And I'm ready for y'all to see it, too."Gerald McCoy

After nine seasons with Tampa Bay, the team released him in 2019. McCoy soon moved on to the Panthers, where he played his last NFL game until this season.

At 33, McCoy certainly has miles under his feet, especially in the NFL. Luckily, he made a full recovery from his torn quadriceps injury that forced the Cowboys to release him in 2020.

He featured in the Raiders' preseason, where he impressed fans and coaches alike.

Now, the Raiders look to build off last year's underwhelming 8-8 season. The team also wants to make a statement as its first season in Vegas was played without fans at Allegiant Stadium.

While McCoy could spearhead a defense with his experience and leadership, the offense also may see massive improvements, according to running back Kenyan Drake.

The team kicks off the new season on September 13th as they feature against the Baltimore Ravens on Monday Night Football, McCoy's first competitive game in nearly two years.
