In the midst of the Jamal Adams saga, the New York Jets just improved their quarterback room. The team has signed veteran Joe Flacco to a contract, but details are unknown. Jeremy Fowler, reporter at the powerhouse ESPN, first broke the news report. Flacco’s agents at JL Sports confirmed that the report valid, alongside NFL social media.
At 35, Flacco will act as a mentor towards Sam Darnold’s young career.
Similarly, Alex Smith mentored Patrick Mahomes’ early on in his new young career. Although he’s on the Redskins, Smith’s fans said he deserves to receive a Super Bowl ring for his work. Former champ Flacco is now in the position Smith was in the year 2017, before Smith’s injury.
“It gave me a blueprint, and it was something that helped me out a lot early in my career,” said Mahomes, referring to the impact that Smith had as a teammate.
Flacco is now in his 11th year. Jets head coach Adam Gase likely hopes that Flacco will teach young Darnold (22) all he can.
How successful will this new tandem be? Only time will tell, similar to Mahomes’ and Smith’s experience.
