Rob Gronkowski isn’t retiring for the second time. Following his Super Bowl LIV win alongside Tom Brady with Tampa Bay, the 4-time All-Pro says he is returning to play next year.
After “retiring” in 2019, Gronkowski came out of retirement this year to play with his long-time friend Brady. His initial contract for this season with Tampa was just a one-year deal. As a result, Gronkowski is technically becoming a free agent this offseason. Although a possibility, it would be hard to see Tampa failing to resign Gronk. After all, he has not played a single season in his career without Brady.
Gronkowski was adamant about a new season and said he is out to seek his 5th Super Bowl in an interview with TMZ.
“I’m back man, I had a great year last year, won the championship, and I’m hoping that we’re gonna have to make a 5th card (title).”Rob Gronkowski
Gronk didn’t put up super-star numbers in 2020, but he still had an essential role on the team. He finished the season with a solid 45 receptions for 623 yards. When not on the receiving end, he still served as an intimidating blocker. His most notable moment came in the Super Bowl, where he caught 2 touchdown passes en route to the title.
