Former NFL player Phillip Adams murdered five people before taking his own life early Thursday morning in Rock Hill, SC. Adams shot and killed a distinguished doctor, his wife, and two grandchildren in their home, along with a man working at the house. York County Sheriff did not determine a motive behind the shooting yet.
Dr. Robert Lesslie was well-known and beloved by the Rock Hill community. He worked in and directed some of the busiest emergency rooms in the Charlotte area. He also wrote several books, including Angels in the ER. Dr. Lesslie, his wife Barbara, and their two grandchildren Adah and Noah, were among the victims. Two air conditioning technicians were shot while working at the home. James Lewis passed away, and Robert Shook is fighting for his life at a Charlotte hospital.
On April 7 at 4:45 pm, sheriffs responded to a gunfire report. The Lesslie family was found dead inside the home. Sheriffs found the two air conditioning technicians wounded outside the home. Shook was the lone survivor.
After searching for several hours, sheriffs found the suspect who lived on the same street as the victims. They arrived at the house, trying to convince Adams not to harm himself. After a long standoff, Adams shot himself and officers found him dead inside the home.

Phillip Adams, a former NFL cornerback, is from Rock Hill, SC. He played football at South Carolina State University from 2006 to 2009. Adams was drafted in 2010 by the San Francisco 49ers. However, injuries plagued his career, and he bounced around the league for six years. He played for the 49ers, New England Patriots, Seattle Seahawks, Oakland Raiders, New York Jets, and Atlanta Falcons. He had 128 tackles and five interceptions throughout his career.
