Having been released by the Cleveland Browns on Monday, wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr has joined the Los Angeles Rams. Former no.1 draft pick Keyshawn Johnson believes Odell gives the Rams “a potent three/four wide receiver attack.” On Thursday night, Odell Beckham agreed to a one-year deal with the LA Rams, a free agent for just two days.

Johnson was speaking on ESPN’s ‘KJM’ show and was excited about the fit of Odell Beckham Jr in Los Angeles, having predicted Odell’s exit from Cleveland.

“You get to rebuild your reputation on the field. You get to be in a great situation in a great city. And you got a hell of a quarterback. That you know, one target isn’t gonna come your way. You’re going to have multiple targets in a game.”

The primary issue for Odell Beckham in Cleveland was a lack of chemistry with quarterback Baker Mayfield. The wide receiver was rarely the first option, but Johnson doesn’t see Odell having any problems in LA.

“You have an offensive coordinator that has a system in Sean McVay. But he knows how to deviate away from the system. Which means putting you in the right position to make plays. OBJ is just in the middle [of his career]. If he stays healthy, the Rams got a potent three/four wide receiver attack.”

Moreover, the three-time Pro Bowler had narrowed his choices down to the Los Angeles Rams or the Green Bay Packers. However, despite the apparent pedigree that Odell Beckham Jr brings, Keyshawn Johnson does not believe this signing gives the Rams the edge over the Packers in the NFC.

“I don’t know that OBJ would be the reason the Rams [go to the Super Bowl] and the Packers don’t. The Packers have an excellent wide receiver core right now. They would have had a bonus pick [on Odell]. If it’s there, we take it, but we don’t have to have it. Where the Rams almost have to have it.”

In the same way, Odell’s signing doesn’t push the Rams ahead of the Packers in the race for the Super Bowl; he could also prove to be the missing x-factor for the team. Another top receiver should only help Cooper Kupp continue his outstanding season, while Odell is capable of greatness. Having been one of the league’s best playmakers before the last couple of seasons in Cleveland.
