Pam Oliver has worked with Fox Sports covering the NFL since 1995. She is now 60 years old and opens up about some of her experiences.

If you are a football fan, you know who Oliver is. Her name coincides with the NFL, given that she has been part of five Super Bowls. From giving us breaking news on the sidelines to sniffing smelling salts courtesy of Larry Fitzgerald, she has given football fans many memories.

“I’m 60 years old. I’m proud of it. “I’m not ashamed of being 60. I’m not trying to be anything I’m not. I’m a grown-ass woman. To me, that’s something to be celebrated.”

Battling chronic migraines

Working in the NFL for nearly 30 years is remarkable, but it has come with some struggles from Oliver. The one problem standing in the way of Oliver is her issue with migraines.

“They’re very debilitating for me. They’ve been a problem for a very, very long time. It’s caused me to miss a few games over the span of my career because I couldn’t take the noise and the light and the sickness that comes with that. The nausea and the vomitting.”

Oliver has often been made fun of on social media for occasionally slurring words during games, but migraines were to blame for that. Oliver hates missing games, but sometimes the migraines win the battle.

Many of Oliver’s coworkers have come and gone during her time, and she is well-aware of this.

“Yeah that’s a very real thing, and I’m not naive to that. You do feel it. You do feel that you are being looked at sometimes unfairly because of your age and how long you’ve been on the scene, and in my case with one particular company.”

It will be strange to watch an NFL game on Fox and not see Oliver’s face, but she is now focused on the season at hand.
