Richard Sherman issues an apology following his arrest in Seattle. Sherman faces five misdemeanor charges, including DUI, endangering roadway workers, resisting arrest, and domestic violence-related counts of malicious mischief and criminal trespass.
He was arrested after attempting to force entry into his in-laws‘ house late Tuesday night. Sherman is currently in the process of finding a new team. However, his off-the-field actions could prohibit him from getting back on the field.
Richard Sherman went on his social media to deliver his apology.
“I am deeply remorseful for my actions on Tuesday night. I behaved in a manner I am not proud of, I have been dealing with some personal challenges over the last several months, but that is not an excuse for how I acted. The importance of mental and emotional health is extremely real, and I vow to get the help I need. I appreciate all of the people who have reached out in support of me and my family, including our community here in Seattle. I am grateful to have such an amazing wife, family and support system to lean on during this time.”Richard Sherman
The NFL all-pro says he has been dealing with some personal challenges, but that’s no excuse for his actions. As a result, it’s tough to tell if Sherman will see an NFL field during the 2021 season.
Sherman is a four-time pro bowler and two-time All-Pro. People still consider Sherman one of the top cornerbacks in the league, and he wants to continue playing. However, teams will be hesitant to sign the 33-year-old cornerback, especially this close to the season.
Sherman issues an apology and hopes to prolong his NFL career. However, Sherman will have to return to court Friday morning for a hearing on four pending charges.
