Despite being less than three weeks into the NFL offseason, the Seattle Seahawks are the latest team to deal with issues regarding their franchise quarterback. The rumored rift comes after a report from The Athletic suggesting tension between Wilson and the Seattle coaching staff. Despite the reported issues, Wilson’s agent Mark Rodgers has told ESPN that Wilson has yet to demand a trade.

The reported issue came on a short week before the Seahawks faced off against the Arizona Cardinals on Thursday Night Football. Wilson was coming off a week in which he turned the ball over three times against the Rams. Wilson reportedly sat down with the coaching staff to discuss his plans for how to fix the offense. His ideas were dismissed, and, as a result, Wilson allegedly stormed out of the meeting in frustration.

This is not the first time the Seahawks have upset Wilson. According to The Atheltic, Wilson has hoped that the organization would give him more of a say regarding important decisions surrounding the franchise.

“For some time, Wilson has sought — even pushed — for influence within the organization regarding scheme and personnel. [When his suggestions were dismissed, it was] another reminder to Wilson that the Seahawks did not see him the same way he saw himself, as a player who had earned greater control over his situation, his future, his legacy.

The disconnect between Wilson and the Seahawks front office has been brewing for quite some time. Wilson and his camp remain frustrated with the lack of attention towards addressing the offensive line. Wilson has been sacked 394 times in the last 9 seasons with Seattle. His offensive line grades as one of the worst in the NFL, according to Pro Football Focus. While a trade is not imminent at this moment, this is a situation to monitor.
