The NFL announced that Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas will host the Pro Bowl in 2021.

This season’s event will take place on Sunday, January 31st.

Previous Pro Bowl Venues

The last four Pro Bowl’s were held in Orlando, Florida at Camping World Stadium. Before the move to Orlando, Aloha Stadium in Hawaii hosted the event from 1980 to 2016 except for two years. In 2010, Sun Life Stadium (now known as Hard Rock Stadium) in Miami hosted it and the University of Phoenix Stadium (now known as State Farm Stadium) hosted it in 2015.

Las Vegas was going to host the NFL Draft this year, but due to COVID-19, the NFL chose to cancel the draft and make it virtual.

Pro Bowl Struggle

Recently, the Pro Bowl has seen star players pull out, as they don’t want to get hurt.

In an ESPN article, it described that Christian McCaffery didn’t want to participate, even though he came off of his best season yet. He felt it would be better to rest for a few more weeks, and then take part in Spring workouts with the new coach, Matt Rhule.

The city where the Pro Bowl is held needs to entertain fans, so fans come to watch a meaningless game. There is no better place than Las Vegas, which is known as The Entertainment Capital of the World. Las Vegas offers more places for fans to go. It also allows the players to have some fun after a long season.

The Pro Bowl truly could be something special if the NFL keeps adding new elements. Activities like relay races and dodgeball competitions could spice up the fun. Las Vegas can help attract more fans to come and watch. This will be Las Vegas’s first time hosting an NFL event when they have a team. They are looking to host a Super Bowl as early as 2025 in the new stadium. It will be interesting to see what the NFL does in Las Vegas for this season’s Pro Bowl.
