Ahead of the start of the 2021 NFL season on Thursday night, Fanatics have revealed their top-selling jerseys since August 1st. Five quarterbacks were selected in the first round of the 2021 NFL Draft, and two of them make the top five. But arguably not the two you would have expected.

Josh Allen QB-Buffalo Bills

Josh Allen announced himself as one of the elite quarterbacks in the NFL during the 2020 season. The 25-year-old threw 37 touchdown passes while rushing in 8 of his own, leading the Bills to a 13-3 record. However, it was in the postseason that he became a superstar.

His three touchdowns in the Wild Card round earning the Bills their first playoff win since 1995. The Bills then eased past the Baltimore Ravens. Before going down to the Kansas City Chiefs in the AFC Championship game. Josh Allen is now a household name, and him topping this list is a testament to that.

Mac Jones QB-New England Patriots

Mac Jones is the first rookie quarterback to make the top five. The 23-year-old out of Alabama was selected with the no.15 overall pick by the New England Patriots. The fifth QB in the first round of the 2021 NFL Draft. After impressing during the pre-season games, Jones was named the Patriots starting QB for Week 1.

With his competition, Cam Newton, released in the final cuts. An impressive rookie season could see him keep his place atop jersey sales.

Tom Brady QB-Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Arguably the most well-known football player of all time, even at 44, Tom Brady's popularity is as high as ever. People keep asking when father time will catch up with the GOAT, and he keeps performing season after season.

The three-time NFL MVP won his seventh ring during the 2020 season, likely adding significantly to the Buccaneers fanbase. Brady threw an impressive 50 touchdown passes last season between the regular season & postseason (40 & 10).

Justin Fields QB-Chicago Bears

Chicago Bears fans have shown their excitement for their new quarterback. As the second rookie QB on the list takes the fourth spot. Justin Fields was the no.11 pick in the 2021 draft, and despite having not played a competitive NFL game, he has clearly captured the imagination.

He also topped the rookie jersey sales. The Bears traded up from the no.20 spot to select Fields. And the fans believe he has a bright future in Chicago.

Patrick Mahomes QB-Kansas City Chiefs

No surprise to see Patrick Mahomes round out the top five. But a little surprising to see him outside the top three. Mahomes has captured the imagination over the past three years. Winning league MVP in 2018, Super Bowl LIV & Super Bowl MVP in 2019, and throwing a total of 131 touchdowns.

The 25-year-old has led the Chiefs to the Super Bowl in each of the last two seasons. And many expect them to be the team to beat in 2021 as well.

Unsurprisingly, the top five are all quarterbacks. They are the ones that get the most coverage and ultimately provide the difference when it comes to winning a game or losing. The 2021 NFL season gets underway tonight with the reigning champion Tampa Bay Buccaneers taking on the Dallas Cowboys.
