Tom Brady Wants to See Antonio Brown Succeed

Tom Brady’s relationship with Antonio Brown appears to be getting along both on the field and off. According to Rick Stroud of The Tampa Bay Times, Brady wants to see the future Hall of Famer “succeed.”

The 43-year-old quarterback lauds previous teammates for mentoring him when he was young. He attributes his regularity for teammate success to those experiences.

Following the Buccaneers routing of the Raiders 45-20, head coach Bruce Arians shot-down any speculation that Brady was the driving force behind the Brown signing. This comes despite rather disparaging comments made by Arians in the past regarding seven-time Pro Bowler.

“I think he’s matured, and I believe in second chances. Everybody wants to say that Tom picked him. Tom didn’t have anything to do with it. This was something [general manager Jason Licht] and I had been talking [about] for a couple weeks, ever since the injuries to our other guys. When the time was right, would we see if we could pull the trigger and fit him in to what we want to get done. And we’ll see. If Antonio does what I think he’s gonna do, I think he’s gonna be fine,” he told ESPN’s Jenna Laine.

Brown’s Baggage

The Brady-Brown tandem played one game together in 2019. Before the team released him, Brown was accused of sexual assault and rape. In a civil lawsuit, his former trainer alleges that he sexually assaulted her twice in 2017 and raped her in 2018.

Brown also finds himself entangled in other accusations of sexual misconduct. According to Robert Klemko of Sports Illustrated, the four-time All-Pro made non-consensual sexual advancements on his home’s mural painter. Subsequent to the publication, Klemko released texts between the two parties. Brown depicts himself as ornery and “intimidating.”

The NFL is awaiting the verdict regarding the civil lawsuit. Therefore, any suspensions for these allegations are on hold until these allegations can be resolved. Brown served an eight-game ban for violating the league’s personal conduct policy.

Brown is eligible to make his debut with the Buccaneers on Nov. 8 against the rival Saints.
