NFL star Aaron Rodgers’ total donations through his charitable fund reached $1 million this Monday. The Packers’ quarterback founded the Aaron Rodgers Small-Business COVID-19 Fund just last month.

Rodgers founded the fund in an attempt to aid small businesses struggling during the pandemic. Select businesses in Rodgers’ hometown of Chico, California, received the benefits from his fund.

The fund opened with $500,000 coming from the quarterback’s own pocket. Donations recently surpassed $1 million, according to the North Valley Community Foundation. His project features heavily on his official Instagram account, where he often posts conversations with those relying on his fund.

Green Bay’s star quarterback expressed his concern in a previous statement.

“In the applications and the videos, it was heart-wrenching to hear about all the obstacles facing [businesses].”

A total of 80 small businesses currently rely on Rodgers’ fund in some form or another.

Helping his hometown is nothing new for Rodgers as he previously donated $1 million to Butte County after a 2018 wildfire hit the area.

To Rodgers, it remains a cause near to his heart as he grew up in Chico. Long before the NFL, he even played a year of junior college ball in nearby Oroville before transferring to Cal.

As it stands, Rodgers is one of the NFL’s best, but he certainly never forgot about his humble beginnings in Butte County.

Green Bay and Rodgers are coming off a remarkable season where the team just missed out on the Super Bowl. These donations serve as just another off-the-field highlight in Rodgers’ impressive career.
