According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, former Raiders receiver Antonio Brown is eligible to return from his suspension after Week 8.

Brown’s History

Brown has had quite a career both on and off the field. The 7-time Pro Bowler has led the league in receiving yards twice since entering the league in 2010. He led the league in receiving touchdowns in 2018 and receptions in consecutive seasons in 2014 and 2015.

Brown’s career has been riddled with unnecessary and costly actions on and off the field. Dating back to his years with the Steelers, he was fined on numerous occasions. Those infractions ranged from excessive celebration to uniform infractions. However, in the last two years, Brown’s mishaps have become even more career-altering than anything he had done before.

It started when Brown was traded from the Steelers to the then Oakland Raiders. On the same day, he signed a 3 year, 50 million dollar deal with the team. Brown first sparked an issue when he said he would not play in the NFL as long as he had to wear the new, safer helmets that the NFL introduced that year. He then began to miss meetings and camp practices in that offseason. After hefty fines and lots of back and forth between the Raiders and Brown’s camp, the Raiders released him less than 6 months into his contract. He signed with the Patriots but was also quickly released after sexual assault allegations, allegations for which he was serving his suspension before.

Seattle appears to be the latest team willing to give Brown another shot at the NFL. Brown and Seahawks QB Russell Wilson were seen working out this past offseason and appear to have a good rapport with one another. Should the Seahawks sign Brown, he would form a deadly trio alongside Tyler Lockett and DK Metcalf.
