Bill Belichick on Russell Wilson: “He’s Underrated”

Nov 13, 2016; Foxborough, MA, USA; New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick greets Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson (3) after the game at Gillette Stadium. Seattle Seahawks defeated the Patriots 31-24.

New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick spoke highly of Russell Wilson ahead of the Week two matchup. According to Mike Reiss, Belichick said, “Honestly, I think he’s in a way underrated by the media or the fans, I don’t know. But I don’t really see anybody better than this player.”

Wilson is a seven-time pro-bowler and super bowl champion. He has also not missed a game since starting in the quarterback position. The only thing missing for Wilson is an MVP award. Hence why Belichick believes he’s “underrated by the media or the fans.”

Wilson has started this season with a win against the Atlanta Falcons. He went 31-of-35 passing for 322 yards, four touchdowns, and no interceptions. The Patriots also won their week one matchup and played incredibly on defense. They held the Miami Dolphins to 11 points and picked off Ryan Fitzpatrick three times.

Wilson is 2-0 in the regular season when facing off against the Patriots. The only loss against the Patriots came in Super Bowl 49, where they lost 28-24. The controversial final play call where the Seahawks decided to pass instead of running the ball from the one yard-line.

Belichick and the Patriots will try to end the winning streak for Wilson on Sunday Night.
