The NFL and NFLPA have released their statement on social justice initiatives.
These social justice initiatives will help bring light to the recent racial injustice in the United States. It will allow players and staff members to vote.
One of the rules is that on November third, all NFL team facilities will close. The reason for the closure is to allow players to exercise their right to vote. The NFL and NFLPA will continue to sponsor non-partisan educational programs. These programs teach players and staff how to get registered to vote. Also, teams will set up polling stations at their stadiums to give another location for voters.
Another one of their initiatives devotes an hour on NBC on September ninth to let players discuss what the league is doing to help out social justice statements.
The league and teams will find ways to communicate with the police in their communities, to establish a better relationship. By doing this, they help the police and community get to know each other. Besides, this will help ease the tensions they may have.
The league explained what they hope the commitments do in the NFL and communities teams play in.
The NFL’s Overall Statement
The NFL made a statement on why they are making these efforts.
“These commitments are part of a continuing effort and build on the exceptional work of players and clubs over the past several years. The Player Coalition has led the efforts of players and clubs to engage with leaders at all levels of government to express our perspective on issues like bail and criminal justice reform; promote education reform and economic opportunity in disadvantaged communities; sponsor efforts to improve police-community relations; and sponsor voter education programs, registration drives, and are working to make club facilities available for use on Election Day.”
Finally, the NFL is proud of its current and former players on what they are doing to spread awareness about racial injustice in the United States.
