Patrick Mahomes isn’t focused on beating Tom Brady’s seven Super Bowl rings record ahead of his matchup against the San Francisco 49ers. Mahomes is already going for his third Super Bowl win of his career.

Mahomes has solidified himself as the best quarterback in the league today. However, he still has some work to do before passing Brady.

“I mean, I’m not even close to halfway, so I haven’t put a lot of thought into it.”

Patrick Mahomes told the media on Monday at Super Bowl Opening Night

In his seven years as a pro, Mahomes already has four Super Bowl appearances. At just 28 years old, this is a truly amazing feat to accomplish. The fact that Mahomes can even have a shot at besting Brady speaks to just how special he is.

Brady is undeniably the best quarterback to ever play the game. While Mahomes has a chance to beat him in the all-time ranks, it will still take quite a bit of success throughout his career.

“Right now, it’s doing whatever I can to beat a great 49ers team and try to get that third ring. And then if you ask me that question in 15 years, and I’ll see if I can get close to seven. But seven seems like a long ways away still.”

The 49ers will pose a difficult challenge to Mahomes in the Super Bowl. Their mixture of explosive weapons on offense and an ever-imposing package of players on defense will make it quite a battle for Mahomes.

Brady was able to win plenty of tough games throughout his career. That is a trait that all of the greats, Brady and Mahomes included, have found ways to do.
