Like 2020, Covid-19 is going to play a huge factor this season. Unfortunately, the Vikings have the lowest vaccination rate of any team in the league at the moment. As a result, Patrick Peterson realizes it’s in his and the Vikings’ best interest to receive the vaccine.

Peterson is encouraging everyone on his team and in the NFL to get the vaccine. However, a lot of players on the Vikings are hesitant. Peterson doesn’t want the virus being the reason Minnesota doesn’t make the playoffs.

“If were healthy were going to compete each and every Sunday. Its every players personal preference if they want to get the vaccine or not, but, like me, I feel like Im too important to this team not to get vaccinated. I miss an important game and now we possibly lose that game and that can be the game we needed to get into the playoffs.”

The Vikings are currently without three quarterbacks due to the virus. Kirk Cousins, Kellen Mond, and Nate Stanley are all on the Covid-19 reserve list. In addition, Cousins is still hesitant even as he is missing time.

Head coach Mike Zimmer is beginning to show frustration with the team’s low vaccine numbers. The team only has 64.5 percent of the team with both doses of the vaccine. However, he realizes that it’s their choice, and it will be hard to convince them otherwise.

“I talked to the team, and like I said before, there are quite a few guys that are just against it. I’m not going to be able to change their mind, so, it’s like half the country, I guess.”

Patrick Peterson knows the Vikings’ playoff hopes could come down to key players not getting the vaccine. The team is already without three quarterbacks. However, there’s still time before the season starts to increase their low vaccine numbers.
