Earlier today, NFL reporter and insider Adam Schefter of ESPN announced in a tweet that the NFL expects to expand the regular-season schedule from 16 games to 17. More football seems reasonable on the surface, but it was not all good news. NFL stars are unhappy with the announcement. Some players are taking to social media to voice their dismay.

New Orleans Saints running back Alvin Kamara called it dumb as hell in a tweet. He later explained how grueling it is to take so many hits every year, especially for someone of his position. The constant shots to the body lead to injuries and can affect a player long-term. Having an extra game every season will only hurt the players’ health.

All-pro free agent cornerback Richard Sherman has long been voicing his concerns about the new schedule.

I dont think its something players are interested in, honestly.

Plenty of other NFL players have agreed that the new schedule will have a negative impact on them as well. Players believe that the league had revenue in mind, but not their stars well-being.

The National Football League has yet to comment on the player concerns. The NFL should be worried that their stars are unhappy about the new announcement. It seems very unlikely that they revert to the original 16-game schedule at this time.
