The partnership between quarterback Daniel Jones and the New York Giants seems to be heading towards a breakup. While talking about rumors he heard at the NFL Combine, radio host Rich Eisen stated that it could be heading in that direction.

“The Giants are absolutely done with Daniel Jones. Might have to play him this year, but that ain’t it, and they feel that ain’t it. The words I heard at the Combine multiples times were buyers remorse.”

After a disappointing previous season, the Giants will look to shake things up. They hold the sixth overall pick in this year’s draft. However, there is one major issue with moving on from Jones. The Giants signed the 26-year-old to a four-year, $160 million contract last offseason.

In his six games played prior to going out with an injury, Jones had three total touchdowns with six interceptions. A steep decline from his play a year prior.

There is no denying that Jones didn’t live up to expectations last year. It also doesn’t help that he was sacked 30 times by opposing defenses. Former NFL player and current ESPN analyst Louis Riddick ripped the New York Giants organization for the way they have treated Jones.

“But when you have this kind of flip-flopping and these kind of 180 turns away from people and these kinds of structural deficiencies no wonder you can’t make up any ground.”

To say this is a big offseason for the Giants would be quite an understatement. There is still a chance for Jones to prove he is the franchise quarterback going forward. Nonetheless, he will have to perform well with the pressure building around the organization.
