Giving a red-hot team one more excuse to play their hearts out is never a good idea. After Las Vegas Raiders players stomped on the Kansas City Chiefs logo before the game, the Chiefs had the last laugh.
In a record-setting game, the Chiefs won the divisional matchup 48-9, which was their largest win over the Raiders in franchise history. Patrick Mahomes threw for 258 yards and two touchdowns on 20-24 passing, but that was all that was needed from him.
“They stomped on the logo for 60 seconds. The Chiefs responded by stomping on your head for 60 minutes.”Rex Ryan
Looking at the box score from the game, Kansas City’s offense was not anything spectacular. The story of the game is the five turnovers from Las Vegas, while the Raiders forced no turnovers.
“When the other team dances on your logo before the game, you want to embarrass them as thoroughly as you can.”Mike Greenberg
“I get wanting to try and get your team ready, but then to go out and get beaten that badly, it does look ridiculous.”Mike Greenberg
Hunter Renfrow led the way for the Raiders with another 100 yards receiving game while catching Vegas’ lone touchdown. The Raiders are now last in the AFC West.
Can anybody stop the Chiefs?
The rollercoaster season for Kansas City continues, but it is only going up at this point. After a rough start to the season, the team is clicking on all cylinders.
“The Kansas City Chiefs have a defense that’s playing, over the last month, or the last month and a half, better than anybody else in the NFL. They also have a quarterback who’s one of the most talented players we’ve ever seen in our lives.”Ryan Clark
“We’re heading for the same rematch we thought we were going to get at the beginning of the season. It’s going to be the Kansas City Chiefs and the Tamba Bay Buccanneers.”Ryan Clark
The top of the AFC is very tight, but the Chiefs are still chasing the number one seed. The Patriots, Titans and Chiefs are all 9-4, but the Chiefs are currently the three seed. With the way they have been playing, the Patriots and Titans cannot afford to lose any games.
“If Kansas City’s defense plays the way they have over the last six weeks, they will be in the Super Bowl.”Dan Orlovsky
Kansas City has a huge matchup on Thursday Night Football against their division foe, the Las Angeles Chargers.
