The Minnesota Vikings have traded star pass rusher Yannick Ngakoue to the Baltimore Ravens, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
Ngakoue was selected in the 3rd round of the 2016 NFL Draft by the Jacksonville Jaguars. He enjoyed four successful years with the team, amassing 37.5 sacks and 14 forced fumbles during his tenure with the Jaguars. Last year, Ngakoue voiced his displeasure with Jaguars owner Shahid Khan. The Jaguars attempted to appease Ngakoue but decided to move on from him before the season.
On Aug 30th, Ngakoue was traded to Minnesota for a 2021 2nd round pick and 2022 5th round pick. Ngakoue signed a restructured one year, 12 million dollar deal with the Vikings on that same day.
Despite the Vikings’ 1-5 record to start the season, Ngakoue continued to show why he is considered one of the top pass rushers in the league. Through 6 games this season, Ngakoue has two forced fumbles, five sacks, and five tackles for loss.
By trading for Ngakoue, the Ravens pair him with former Jaguars teammate Calais Campbell. The two played together when the Jaguars made it to the AFC Championship game back in 2017.
