The Dallas Stars eliminated the Vegas Golden Knights and are going to the Stanley Cup Finals. Interestingly, it will be the first time since 1999 that the Stars will have an opportunity at the trophy.
The Dallas Stars have been a Cinderella story in the Stanley Cup Playoffs. NHL writers and critics had the Stars written off as a first-round exit.
However, after beating the Calgary Flames in Round 1 in six games, Dallas then defeated Colorado in a seven-game thriller. The Stars then went on to win the conference finals in five against the Golden Knights.
Joel Kiviranta and Anton Khudobin have both been pleasant surprises for Dallas during their playoff run.
Kiviranta only had one point in eleven games played in the 2020 regular season. Now, he has five points in series-clinching games alone in this postseason. When Ben Bishop was considered “unfit to play,” Anton Khudobin stepped up for the Stars.
Dallas will now face the winner of the Tampa Bay/NY Islanders series in the Stanley Cup Final.
