Chris Paul is now entering the NBA’s Health and Safety Protocols. It’s unknown how long this will keep him sidelined, but the Western Conference Finals loom large for this Phoenix Suns team.

Nick Young responded to this news on Twitter telling Chris Paul to pray:

“[Chris Paul] Cp3 you need to go pray you not living right lol something somewhere dnt [don’t] want you to win every playoffs something happens to you.”

Despite being widely considered one of the great players in the game throughout his career, Paul has constantly come up short in the playoffs. A common misconception is that this has occurred due to his own poor play. In reality, it has been injuries sustained at the wrong time that have kept Paul’s teams from getting over the hump.

In 2015 and 2016, his Clippers teams had high playoff hopes, but Paul missed games due to injury both years, and his teams lost. Chris Paul hurt his hamstring in 2018 with the Rockets up 3-2 against the Warriors in the conference finals. He missed the last two games, and the Warriors won the series.

He’s led this Suns franchise back to success this season. Now, headed back to the Western Conference Finals, lady luck has once again done Chris Paul wrong. Even after reportedly receiving his COVID vaccine, he has tested positive and could miss extended time next series.

After the Suns series against the Lakers, Chris Paul was asked about his bad luck with injuries in the playoffs. He addressed the fact that he hasn’t yet won a championship but still considers himself a great player.

Nick Young seems to suggest in his tweet that Chris Paul could be cursed. This seems far-fetched, but he has definitely gone through some terrible luck. All NBA fans will hope that he can get back on the court soon and potentially finally win that elusive ring.
