The FIFA Club World Cup draw has presented tantalizing opportunities for hopeful clubs seeking to dethrone European champions Manchester City. Man City received a bye straight to the semi-finals as UEFA winners in their first-ever Club World Cup appearance.

For their potential opponents, the chance to face elite competition and measure themselves against one of Europe’s modern superclubs looms large. Overcoming Manchester City would establish them as a successful team in the global football stage while ruining the Premier League’s hopes of another trophy.

The Japanese club, Urawa Red Diamonds, and Mexico’s Club León will fight for the chance to challenge Manchester City in the semi-finals.

After claiming the AFC Champions League, Urawa Red Diamonds are eager to test themselves against Pep Guardiola’s City juggernaut. The chance to shock one of the world’s top teams in front of a global audience is priceless exposure. Meanwhile, Club León qualified by winning the 2022 CONCACAF Champions League.

On the other side of the draw, Saudi Arabia’s Al Ittihad faces either New Zealand’s Auckland City or Egypt’s Al-Ahly in the quarter-finals. The winner then gets the coveted date with the Copa Libertadores champions.

As the host nation, Saudi Arabia’s Al Ittihad will relish performing in front of home supporters against South America’s best.
