Carlo Ancelotti Set for Sensational Real Madrid Return

Carlo Ancelotti’s sensational return to Real Madrid is imminent after all. Fabrizio Romano reported the news on June 1st, 2021.

Ancelotti’s agents are working to terminate his current contract with Everton FC. Ancelotti surprisingly joined Everton FC after an underwhelming spell with Napoli in Serie A.

Carlo Ancelotti’s presently in Madrid, according to reports coming out of Spain. Correspondingly, Real Madrid feels Ancelotti’s personal terms align with their proposal.

Ancelotti’s previous trophy-laden spell with Real Madrid produced great results for both Real and Ancelotti himself. With Real Madrid winning their record-setting 10th UEFA Champions League, nicknamed La Decima. Subsequently winning Carlo Ancelotti his third UEFA Champions League, becoming only one of three managers in history to win three. Ancelotti is the only one out of the three to win the UEFA Champions League with multiple clubs.

Carlo Ancelotti replaces outgoing Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane. Zidane resigned from the club following his second tenure in the dugout. Zidane left the club following disagreements with Real Madrid president Florentino Perez. Real Madrid subsequently ended the 2021 European season without a trophy following a barrage of injuries and COVID-related absences.

Despite the lack of trophies, Real Madrid’s campaign categorizes as successful. With Real Madrid making the semi-finals and being a contender in the UEFA Champions League, ultimately losing to Chelsea.

Real Madrid’s Current Squad

Ancelotti inherits an aging squad, with Real Madrid’s stars in their early to mid-’30s. Club stalwarts Luka Modric, Sergio Ramos, and Karim Benzema are 35, 35, and 33. The lack of cover in defensive midfield for 29-year-old Casemiro is also an issue. With little funds available due to Real Madrid’s immense debt, how Ancelotti fixes the squad remains to be seen.

The depth of Real’s current squad suddenly becomes an issue for Carlo Ancelotti. Talented youngsters Martin Odegaard and Borja Mayoral’s futures remain unknown. The sale of Achraf Hakimi to Internazionale and subsequent loans of Odegaard, Mayoral midfielder Dani Ceballos hurt the depth also.
