The 2021 summer transfer window was absolutely unorthodox. Firstly, Leo Messi was forced to leave Barcelona. In a short amount of time, Messi signed with PSG to form a deadly trio with Neymar and Kylian Mbappe. Moreover, another incredible player also switched clubs. Cristiano Ronaldo is heading back to Manchester United.

Ronaldo made 196 appearances and scored 84 goals in six years for United. Back in 2003, Ronaldo was recognized by Manchester while playing for Sporting CP in Portugal. Aged just 18, Sir Alex Ferguson played a key role in Ronaldo's signing. As a fact, Ronaldo himself said such several times.

"As everybody knows, since I signed for Manchester at 18, Sir Alex Ferguson was the key. I remember when we played against Manchester when I was at Sporting Lisbon. For me, Sir Alex Ferguson is like a father in football. He helped me a lot, he taught me many things, and in my opinion of course he had a big role because of the relationship that we had."Cristiano Ronaldo on importance of Sir Alex Ferguson

Cristiano Ronaldo will re-unite with former teammate Ole Gunnar Solskjær

After leaving United, Ronaldo joined Real Madrid on the world's highest fee at the time. During his time at Real Madrid, Ronaldo became the top goal-scorer in the club's history. The partnership was highly successful, as Real won four Championship League titles with Ronaldo. To top things off, Ronaldo became the top goal-scorer at UEFA Euro Championship.

"I think it's the best decision that I have made it. It's right on point, in my opinion. I moved from Juve now to Manchester, it's a new chapter, I'm so hapy and glad, and I want to carry on again, to make history, to try to help Manchester achieve great results, to win trophies and number one of them, to win great things."Cristiano Ronaldo

United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjær will re-unite with Ronaldo but under different circumstances. Solskjær was a striker for United from 1996 and 2007. Most credibly, Solskjær has been credited for uplifting United back amongst Premier League's best. With Ronaldo, it's almost certain they'll remain there.
