Florentino Pérez, the President of Real Madrid, is back among controversy due to an audiotape from 2006. Pérez can be heard slandering Raúl and Iker Casillas in the tape, two massive legends of the club.

"Casillas is not the goalkeeper for Real Madrid," he said. "He is not and never has been. He has been a big failure. The problem is people adore him, love him, talk to him, they defend him so much. He is one of the biggest frauds and the other is Raul, the two biggest Real Madrid frauds are first Raul and second Casillas."Florentino Pérez

Furthermore, to make matters worse for Pérez, Marca, The Spanish news outlet published even more remarks made by the Real Madrid Chief towards Iker Casillas.

"You could see the other 'keeper was better than Casillas. You can tell when things aren't going so well with his girlfriend as well; he's absent [mentally]. He's like a child... he's like a lapdog, a puppet, something childlike."The slander seemed to continue against one of the club's biggest legends.

Florentino Pérez's defence

Florentino Pérez released a statement through the club's official website. He stated that the quotes were in conversations secretly recorded by Mr. José Antonio Abellán. He also accused the journalist of trying to sell the recordings for many years without any success.

Pérez also mentioned that he now has a good relationship with Iker Casillas, despite what the news reports say. He believes that the audios are the latest in a series of attacks on the president that have continued throughout the year. He was also recently in the news for stalling Raphael Varane's transfer to Manchester United. He believes that his plan for the European Super League is why he is constantly being attacked and that the quotes have been taken out of context. Pérez is currently discussing legal actions that could be taken with his lawyers.
