Juventus Fans Chant “We Don’t Want Lukaku” at the Stadium

Juventus has been the focal point of various transfer sagas over the last few years. This time around, Chelsea is trying to strike a deal with Juventus that will see Lukaku go to the Turin club and Vlahovic go the other way. In their most recent match, Juventus fans vehemently protested against Lukaku’s signing by chanting “We don’t want Lukaku.”

Lukaku returned back to Stamford Bridge in 2021 for a fee of 100M after impressing at Inter Milan. He scored 64 goals in 95 games across all competitions for Nerazzuri. Chelsea hoped he’ll solve their striker issues but he flopped at the London club. The club was looking for a way to offload the player. He was eventually loaned back to Inter Milan for a season-long loan last season. 

Inter Milan tried to negotiate with Chelsea for the Belgian star but the player didn’t want to stay at Milan club anymore. He now fixes his eyes on Juventus, hoping that Chelsea will strike a deal with the Turin club. Juventus Ultras and fans have expressed their displeasure with the news and have taken various actions to protest against it.

The club fans had previously hung a banner saying, “We don’t forget what happened. You will never be welcome here,” in remembrance of the fierce Copa Italia semi-final. Curva Sud also sent a message saying, “Lukaku, stay in Milan. We already have a second goalkeeper,” with the Instagram caption, “You’ll never be welcome here.” The message was a jab at Lukaku getting in the way of his opponent’s shots due to his lack of awareness.

The latest protests against Lukaku came in their last match. A match between Juventus and Juventus Next Gen. After the game, a traditional pitch invasion took place and the fans collectively chanted “We don’t want Lukaku.”
