Liverpool finally has good news to report as winger Diogo Jota reportedly plans a return to practice this week. In a season riddled with injuries, Jota’s return is one of the team’s few bright spots this year.
The news comes just days after captain Jordan Henderson walked off with a groin injury in the Merseyside Derby. Although not a center back where the team suffered the most injuries, Jota’s return marks progress in the injury crisis for the first time this year.
Before his injury, Jota was in excellent form. Initially viewed as a role player in the squad, Jota exploded to score 9 goals in just 17 games as he stole headlines.
His summer transfer from Wolves seemed a curious one when Liverpool’s attack already had numerous options and depth. However, his loss proved hurtful to the team as the Reds currently sit in 6th place and are on a 4 match losing streak in the Premier League.
Jota’s return may not come this weekend against Sheffield United, but a competitive return is more likely for March 4th against Chelsea.
If there is still hope in a title challenge from Liverpool, Jota will prove priceless as Klopp hopes to spur his squad out of bad form.
