Tottenham Hotspur in discussion to make Antonio Conte their next manager

Tottenham Hotspur is chiefly in contact with Italian manager Antonio Conte. Fabrizio Romano of Sky firstly reported the news on Twitter.

Tottenham’s club hierarchy subsequently contacted Conte’s representatives to discuss salary and contract terms. Conte’s focus on the Tottenham project will significantly impact his decision.

Tottenham’s other candidates include former boss Mauricio Pochettino , in addition to interim manager Ryan Mason.

Antonio Conte’s successful managerial pedigree would instantly establish Spurs amongst the European managerial elite.

Conte’s previous managerial exploits include the Italian national team, in which Conte’s famous three at the back became a mainstay. His successful spell at Juventus straightaway made Antonio Conte a household name. Antonio Conte’s subs spell at Chelsea subsequently established him in England. Conte’s disagreements with Chelsea FC’s board of directors lead to his sacking in 2019.

Eventually, Antonio Conte joined Inter Milan, where he won Serie A and broke Juventus’ stranglehold on the title scene. However, Conte would later leave Inter Milan due to their financial woes. In addition the fact Inter needed to sell players to balance their finances.

Conte’s demands include new signings, a new sporting director in addition to a long-term contract. Rumors persisted linking Antonio Conte with the Real Madrid job opening; however, these would later simmer. Real Madrid eventually signed former boss Carlo Ancelotti to fill their managerial vacancy. Juventus was also a rumored destination for Conte, but they eventually hired Massimiliano Allegri to replace Andrea Pirlo.

Will Conte’s hiring bring significant change to a Tottenham Hotspur side that’s dealing with stagnation and Harry Kane’s transfer saga? Or, will the Italian’s personality clash with the Tottenham Hotspur’s board and chairman Daniel Levy’s conservative transfer dealings.
