Police arrested Toronto Raptors guard Terence Davis Tuesday after he allegedly assaulted his ex-girlfriend.

According to TMZ, “things got out of hand quickly, with Davis allegedly punching the woman in the face repeatedly.” The incident occurred at Beekman Tower in Midtown Manhattan, New York. Davis was booked on two charges: misdemeanour assault and misdemeanour criminal mischief.

After going undrafted, Davis reportedly told teams to not draft him when they offered two-way contracts. Davis displayed his worth when he went on to have an impactful season with the Toronto Raptors.

In 16.8 minutes per game, he averaged 7.5 points and 1.6 assists. His play doesn’t always show up on the stat sheet. Davis is an outstanding team defender and provides spacing on offense. It’s surprising Nick Nurse didn’t give him minutes during the playoffs. He could have provided the Raptors much-needed offense with his off-the-dribble scoring.

The NBA named Davis to the All-Rookie second team with Tyler Herro and Coby White.

Hopefully, the case doesn’t impact his season next year as the Raptors could be looking towards a youth movement with Fred VanFleet, Serge Ibaka, and Marc Gasol all in free agency. Davis figures to be apart of the Raptors’ future.
