Tim Hardaway Jr. is fast approaching free agency this summer, and he recently hinted at a desire to stay in Dallas.

This comes immediately after the Mavericks 7 game series with the Clippers. The Mavericks lost the series, their second year in a row exiting the playoffs in the first round. Tim Hardaway Jr. was exceptional in the series, averaging 17 points a game. As Tim MacMahon said in his tweet, Hardaway Jr.’s play has likely earned him a lot of money this summer.

The Dallas Mavericks will most likely look to resign him after he proved his worth in the playoffs. He was arguably their second-best player in the series and will be important to this team moving forward.

Similar to many teams, the Mavericks face a pivotal offseason. The biggest choice for them surrounds Kristaps Porzingis. Originally brought in to form an elite duo with Luka Doncic, Porzingis has disappointed so far in his time with Dallas. According to recent reports, Porzingis is frustrated with his role on the team. The Mavericks may end up looking to move Porzingis during the offseason as a result.

Whether Porzingis leaves or not, Dallas has enough cap space to resign Hardaway Jr., so it will all come down to whether they think he’s worth the money. After seeing his playoff performance, it seems like he is.
