Tyrese Haliburton‘s visit to Milwaukee wasn’t great, especially for his family. In a time when he needed peace with no distractions, he found the opposite. Moreover, he claims a fan called his younger brother a racial slur.

Tyrese Haliburton Hesitates On Opening Up

In an interview with Lori Nickel, he seems to mull about opening up before going through with it. When Nickel asks if any distractions prevented him from locking in and focusing on the games, he fidgets before talking about it.

Instead, he tries to focus on the positivity of the visit—that his family is coming by to support him. However, it’s clear something is bothering the All-Star as he fidgets with his hands.

“It’s just basketball. Immediate family and stuff. My fam came out and showed love, and it’s been good to have them here.”

He finally discusses an altercation between a Milwaukee Bucks fan and his brother. It turns out that his younger brother was called the N-word by the former.

It distressed the family, but the brother understood and took it like a champ. However, it still bothers the 24-year-old, and it should be a call to the NBA to crack down on these attacks.

“My little brother understands, the other day he was called the N-word. It was important for us as a family to just address that. That just didn’t sit right with anybody in our family. Just important to have my family here right now. And my little brother handled that the right way.”

Since Haliburton is from Oshkosh, Wisconsin, it’s close enough to Milwaukee for fans to celebrate his visits. However, the atmosphere changes during the playoffs due to the sport’s hypercompetitiveness during do-or-die moments.

This possibly leads to heated discussions, rash decisions, and verbal attacks from angry fans.

“Obviously, the conversations—it’s friendly during the regular season because I’m a hometown kid. But it’s a little different when you’re visiting in this environment [the Playoffs].”

Some Fans Will Rabidly Defend Their Teams

It’s a given that fans love the game, but some love it too much. Some get too heated when a conversation about a rival team comes up, and Haliburton’s situation might be one of these moments.

However, it’s difficult to fathom, as the fan apparently did this during game 1, which Milwaukee won by a landslide of 109-94.

Ultimately, users will have to wait for the NBA’s update on this situation if they ever start an investigation.
