The Charlotte Hornets have desperately been trying to find a path forward in the league. The first major change they will look to make is at the head coach position for the team. Despite not having any coaching experience, former NBA player JJ Redick has seen his name tossed in the ring to get the job.

As time has passed since interviewing for the job, Redick has gained serious traction for the position.

“JJ Redick has interviewed for the Charlotte Hornets head coaching job, I’m told, he could have another interview soon as well, he’s a serious candidate.”

The sharpshooter played 15 years in the NBA and retired back in 2021. While not having coaching experience, he has shown that he has a tremendous basketball IQ that would transfer well to a coaching staff.

As things stand, the Hornets obviously need to take a massive swing somewhere. The team has been moving laterally since they last made the playoffs in 2016. Hiring a first-time coach could bring a new sense of energy to the team.

“JJ Redick has a strong desire to move into coaching. He has been public about that and privately I am hearing that as well. If it’s not Charlotte, there could be more interviews for JJ Redick in his future in this potential cycle.”

If Redick doesn’t get the position, he will remain a name in this year’s coaching carousel. The 39-year-old is a co-host with LeBron James on the Mind The Game Podcast that started this year.

There is nothing imminent in regard to Redick getting the position. However, it is obvious that the Hornets are seriously considering him.
