Shai Gilgeous-Alexander hasn’t accepted Chet Holmgren calling him MVP yet. However, he does open up about his confidence and how he tackles these situations.
Chet Holmgren Is Convinced Shai Gilgeous-Alexander Is This Season’s MVP
Last night was not a good time for the New Orleans Pelicans fans. Not only are they missing Zion Williamson, but the Oklahoma City Thunder slaughtered them with a 32-point lead.
This led to the Thunder big man complimenting his teammate for his performance that night. Moreover, he gives his teammate flowers for how well he’s performed throughout the season.
Holmgren knows his teammate won’t talk about being the league’s MVP, so he’ll do it for him.
“I got one more thing to say. He’s too humble to say it, but this is the MVP right here. MVP of the league. I’mma say it for him ’cause he won’t say it.”

NBA TV highlights Gilgeous-Alexander tackling the idea of being a “humble” guy. However, his take picks both sides of the spectrum as he considers himself to be a cocky humble guy.
From what he says, he seems to know his achievements but doesn’t flaunt them around. Moreover, this could also point to his outstanding performances, as the two-time All-Star has confidence in his ability to play the game at the highest level.
Nevertheless, it’s undeniable the 25-year-old is a clear candidate for the MVP title this season. Time will only tell if he receives the award since there are a lot of other viable contenders, such as Nikola Jokic, Luka Doncic, Giannis Antetokounmpo, and Jayson Tatum.
“I’m humble, but cocky in my own way, I’d say. I have a lot of confidence. I don’t always exert it and show it, but I’m a very confident guy.”

The Pelicans did Not Have A Good Night
The Thunder point guard was having another one of those nights. He scored 33 points, three rebounds, and five assists to help Oklahoma dominate the Pelicans.
Meanwhile, Holmgren wasn’t far behind with his 26 points, seven rebounds, and one assist.
Admittedly, this was home court. For games three and four, they’ll be going to New Orleans to play against the Pelicans’ home advantage. That might change the tide, but the latter will most likely need Williamson to close anything out.
