The Golden State Warriors season is officially over after a disappointing performance against the Sacramento Kings. Now, the team will have to answer some tough questions surrounding their core.
The Warriors dynasty seems to finally be trending in the other direction. In order to remain competitive, they will have to evaluate players who were essential in winning multiple championships. Head coach Steve Kerr addressed that very thing after the game.
“We need Klay [Thompson] back. I know he had a tough night tonight, but what he represents for us the spacing. We’re not a deep shooting team, we’re a little a top heavy. Klay’s presence means so much to the spacing on the floor, to the flow of the offense.”

Klay Thompson had arguably the worst performance of his NBA career in last night’s loss. The Splash Brother ended the game with zero points on 0/10 shooting from the field in 31 minutes of playing time.
Thompson will be a free agent heading into this upcoming offseason. It will ultimately come down to how much money the Warriors are willing to spend to retain him, and how much Thompson values retiring a member of the team that drafted him.
“He’s still got good years left. I know speak for everybody in the organization. We want him back.”
Steve Kerr
Speculation around the Warriors will be louder than ever heading into this offseason. The 34-year-old shooter had a bit of a down year with the team while averaging 17.9 points, 3.3 rebounds, and 2.3 assists per game.
The Warriors will need to shake things up to stay competitive. As things stand, Thompson will be the biggest player for the team to evaluate.
