Palworld CEO creator Takuro Mizobe recently retweeted an upcoming “Palworld clone game” from Tencent. Mizobe seemingly sounded proud as he excitedly announced that a lot of “companies are simultaneously developing mobile clones of Palworld.”

The game he mentioned was Auroria, an open-world, multiplayer, and cooperative sandbox game. According to its Steam page and Google Play store page, it is set to release this year.

The creatures within Auroria remind players of the characters from Fall Guys. Additionally, the player models bear a striking resemblance to No Man’s Sky’s players.

According to the game’s first gameplay trailer, players can fight against gigantic robots (similar to Gundam and Transformers), fish, keep pets, and build their very own base.

Proud or Accussing?

Despite the obvious excitement on Mizobe’s post, numerous gaming news outlets, such as IGN and Insider Gaming, made it seem that the Pocketpair CEO was accusing Tencent of making a Palworld clone.

Global Community Manager “Bucky” called them out on their official tweets, explaining that their company hasn’t accused anyone of anything. Additionally, Mizobe’s tweet said, “Amazing times,” which further proves Pocketpair’s excitement about this development.

Fans are quick to recognize that a few news outlets wrote a controversial headline for quick views.

Mizobe has also released an official statement on the matter.

Who is Tencent?

Tencent has had a rocky reputation. Last year, they had to end and shut down Apex Legends Mobile just days before its first anniversary. EA wasn’t satisfied with the game’s quality, which was nowhere near their standards.

The company also had to cancel an unannounced mobile game version of Square Enix’s Nier: Automata. This time, they weren’t able to come up with a “compelling” monetization model to match the mobile game’s costs and franchise rights.

Despite these failed attempts, Tencent still has successful mobile games such as PUBG Mobile and Call of Duty Mobile. They are also attempting to create a free Elden Ring game on mobile.
