Patrick Mahomes wants a perfect season in 2021. Mahomes believes the Chiefs have the chance to be the first team with 20 wins in a season. Kansas City won 16 total games in 2021 before losing in the Super Bowl against Tampa Bay.

Mahomes doesn’t have much more to prove in his young career. He has 43 total wins as a starter, an MVP, and a Super Bowl Ring. However, Mahomes and the Chiefs have their eyes set on perfection in 2021.

“The only record I have my eyes set on breaking, which would be new this year, would be going 20-0,” Mahomes said. “It’s not really a record to be broken. I guess you would say19-0 is the record right nowso being able to go 20-0 and being the first one to do that, that would be awesome.”

The only teams to go perfect in the regular season are the 1972 Miami Dolphins and the 2007 New England Patriots. However, only the Dolphins were able to remain perfect in the playoffs. The Patriots were upset in the Super Bowl against the New York Giants.

The NFL is expanding its regular season in 2021, and each team will get 17 games. However, the playoff format will remain the same e with just the number one seed in each conference getting a first-round bye.

Mahomes has a bitter taste in his mouth after the Super Bowl loss in Tampa Bay. Mahomes is only focused on winning from here on out in his career.

That is the mindset of the entire Chiefs’ roster. Kansas City knows they didn’t play their best against the Buccaneers. As a result, every player is buying in.

“I don’t think we went out there and played our best, and that leaves a sour taste in your mouth that you did that on the biggest stage possible,” said tight end Travis Kelce.

Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs want that perfect season in 2021. It begins with a playoff rematch against the Cleveland Browns in week one.
