James Harden has heard all of the noise regarding his career playoff performances. Instead of avoiding it, he is making it clear to take the narrative head-on. While Harden has had an incredible career full of accolades, that championship trophy has remained illusive to him.

Harden discussed that he has something to prove in this year’s playoffs ahead of his first-round matchup against the Dallas Mavericks.

“Yeah. I always wanna play well in the playoffs. I’ve had some not great games, but I’ve had some really good games. For me, the goal is to win. That’s the only thing I’m missing at the highest level.”

The Los Angeles Clippers will need Harden to remain consistent if they hope to go on a playoff run. While not being the scorer that he was in his prime, he has remained one of the best playmakers across the NBA.

The Clippers will hope to finally get over the hump in this year’s playoffs and win a title. The 34-year-old guard averaged 16.6 points, 5.1 rebounds, and 8.5 assists in 72 games this year. After being traded from the Philadelphia 76ers, he has completely bought into his role in Los Angeles.

Having a chip on his shoulder in this year’s playoffs could be exactly what he needs. There is no denying the talent of Harden and the upside that he can bring to a team. Now, it will be about taking that talent to win a championship.

The Clippers will open up their first-round matchup in Los Angeles on April 21st.
