Paul George reminisces about the blockbuster trade that shook the NBA in 2019. The Los Angeles Clippers gave up a ton to get George. In the trade was Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, who’s been a massive help for the Oklahoma City Thunder as the West’s second seed this season.
Paul George Is Happy With The Clippers
After beating Gilgeous-Alexander and the Thunder in an 11-point win, he gets asked if this was him showing the Clippers his value, as Joey Linn‘s video shows. That question is a throwback to 2019’s trade between the Thunder and Clippers, where the latter received George. Meanwhile, the former received Gilgeous-Alexander, Danilo Gallinari, and multiple first-round picks and swaps.
He laughs it off and claims that was never on his mind. Furthermore, he admits that he thinks his current team gave away too much value for him.
The eight-time All-Star is more than willing to give it his all for his team, especially after what they’ve done for him.
“That wasn’t on my mind but I just think both sides won. I did think it was quite a lot that the Clippers were willing to give up. But their commitment to me is my commitment to them. I’m just appreciative that they went out and grabbed me and brought me over here. I’m very appreciate of Steve [Ballmer].”

Nevertheless, he still thinks the Thunder won, especially with their addition of the Canadian native. Few expected the trade would go well for Oklahoma as the league saw only part of the point guard’s potential. Fans expected him to be an eventual All-Star but seldom envisioned him being an MVP-caliber player.
However, George affirms that he knew the 25-year-old was special.
“We knew Shai was gonna be really, really good but he’s special. In a way, Oklahoma won that trade with picks and a future MVP. Great trade for both sides.”

George VS Gilgeous-Alexander
Gilgeous-Alexander put up a good fight last night by putting in 19 points, two rebounds, four assists and two blocks. However, George blew him out of the water this game.
The 33-year-old put on a clinic with 38 points, seven rebounds, five assists and three steals.
The game was nip-and-tuck throughout but the Clippers were seemingly one step ahead of the Thunder at every pivotal moment. Ultimately, Los Angeles won 128-117.
