Anne Hathaway recently brought up and confirmed that she and Disney are working on “The Princess Diaries 3.” Other than that, the actress has barely spilled any crucial details. VMagazine was the first to report this.
Hathaway’s most notable comment was, “We’re in a good place. That’s all I can say. There’s nothing to announce yet. But we’re in a good place.”
Previously, Disney announced Princess Diaries 3 was in the works on November 15, 2022. Back then, fans weren’t sure if the beloved actress would return as the princess of Genovia. Thankfully, the recent interview with VMagazine confirms Hathaway’s return for the threequel.
Additionally, her comment implies that the film’s progress is going smoothly. It seems that there is a solid plan for the plot, cast, and crew. With Hathaway’s approval, “We’re in a good place,” fans are reassured about the story of the third film.
What about Devil Wears Prada 2?
Unfortunately, Hathaway mentioned to VMagazing that a sequel to The Devil Wears Prada is highly unlikely.
Thankfully, it isn’t because of a drama between the cast and crew. In fact, the team loves each other so much that they reenacted iconic scenes from the film multiple times at the 2007 Oscars.
And just more recently, at the 2024 Screen Actors Guild Awards.
The major reason why there won’t be a Devil Wears Prada sequel is due to how much the world has changed ever since the 2006 film. Technology is taking over multiple major industries, including fashion. Hathaway noted that the story focused on producing physical materials which would sit wrong in the current digital age.
Additionally, the actress shared that she’s more open to doing an entirely different film with “Stanley, Emily, Meryl, Dave Frankel, [and] Patricia Field.”
